The HOME STAR program is designed to provide rebates and other financial incentives to encourage homeowners to weatherize their homes and make other energy efficiency improvements. Negotiations going on with possible investors – Milan

LEICESTER CITY chairman Milan Mandaric has said negotiations are continuing with a business consortium who may become investors in the club.
But he has previously rubbished reports that he is looking to hand over full control of the club at the end of the season.
Mandaric told the Mercury: “We are working and communicating with people and there are possibilities but there is nothing more to say at the moment.”
In another interview, with the BBC, Mandaric confirmed the consortium was from Asia but would not give any more information on their identity. He said: “They are from Asia, a country where football is playing a big role.
“They are football people and they are not coming here just to make money.
“They are passionate and football-orientated people and are here to see if they can help elevate the club to a higher level.
“But how much is going to happen and when it is going to happen is hard to say. It could happen in two or three weeks or it could not happen at all.”
“And, if this deal happens, it happens for the benefit of the club and not Milan Mandaric.”

‘Cruelty’ pair back in court

THE case of a couple charged with child cruelty was due to continue today.
The case centres around a 22-month-old toddler who was left with seven fractured bones, burns and a battered face after allegedly suffering weeks of physical abuse.
The child, who cannot be named for legal reasons, also suffered two black eyes, bruising to the face, and a tear inside the upper lip, Chester Crown Court has heard.
Mother-of-three Stacey Bride, aged 24, and her boyfriend Michael Quilty, aged 26, have gone on trial charged with cruelty by assaulting a child and perverting the course of justice.
The pair, of Warrington Avenue, Crewe, have previously admitted neglect.
The court has heard Bride and Quilty, who has two children from a previous relationship, told medics Bride’s three-year-old daughter Jessica was responsible for the injuries.
Today the jury in the trial was due to hear the couple’s defence.

WITH hundreds of thousands of British families expected to stay in the UK to keep the cost of summer holidays down this year, leading hotel groups are devising short break packages to stretch their money as far as possible.
In Blackpool, named Britain’s number one seaside town in a survey in July’s issue of Holiday Which? magazine, short break operator Superbreak offers a two night stay (Monday to Thursday) for two adults and two under-15s until September 2 for a total of pounds 180, including three course meals each night for every member of the group.
Holiday Which? says: “The tide is on the turn for Blackpool, with parts of the town already stylish beyond recognition.
“In the town centre, tables and chairs spill out from trendy coffee shops across freshly cobbled pedestrian walkways.”
In Brighton (number two), Superbreak has family rooms at three-star Jurys Inn in August from pounds 70, including breakfast for parents, but it has no spaces left at all in Whitby (three).
In Bournemouth, fourth in the Holiday Which? league table, Superbreak offers two nights’ B&B at a four-star Village Hotel between Christchurch and Bournemouth for two adults and two under-16s from pounds 258, plus the cost of the children’s breakfast.
Of 10 hotels in the Focus Hotels group, several are handily placed for top family attractions, including Alton Towers, Cadbury World, West Midland Safari Park and Drayton Manor Theme Park. Focus packages can also include a picnic lunch, besides breakfasts and three course dinners.
